Official recognition of high quality by the French government
The Red Label is official recognition of the high quality of an agricultural or food product.

This recognition can be obtained by the certification of very strict specifications implemented by a group of producers.
The certification is announced in a joint decree from the ministry responsible for agriculture and the ministry responsible for consumption on the proposal of the Institut National de l'Origine et de la Qualité (INAO). INAO is the French public organisation responsible for marks of quality and of origin for the food products.

Scottish Quality Salmon holds Red Label Rouge No. LA 33/90. Compliance with the specifications is inspected by an independent certifying body, Food Certification International Ltd.
